RESIDENT Of CBN QUARTERS EXPRESSES DISPLEASURE OVER LACK Of TRANSPORTATION

 By Sunday Modupe Grace

Mrs. Atoyebi, who has been living in the community for the past 30 years, stated that since she became a resident, there have been no significant challenges or security concerns. "We have lived in peace in the community," she said.

However, Mrs. Atoyebi noted that one of the major challenges facing the community presently is the lack of transportation, such as taxis and tricycles. The community relies solely on okada riders, who charge exorbitant prices.

Mrs. Atoyebi also recalled a period when the community was plagued by robberies targeting motorcycle riders. She expressed gratitude that the community has since overcome this challenge, thanks to divine intervention.

Regarding government support, Mrs. Atoyebi stated that the community has not received any assistance, aside from the construction of a tired road. She lamented that the government often neglects their community when distributing palliatives, such as food and financial assistance.

When asked about healthcare facilities in the community, Mrs. Atoyebi revealed that a government hospital formerly located nearby had been relocated to Alagbado. The community is now left with only expensive private hospitals.

Mrs. Atoyebi appealed to the government to provide a government hospital and address the community's transportation challenges. She also requested improved electricity supply in the community.

Regarding the community's impact on leadership and governance, Mrs. Atoyebi noted that they had formed a security group to address past security concerns. However, the group was dissolved due to lack of cooperation from community members.

When asked if the community had received any government assistance during their security challenges, Mrs. Atoyebi praised the police from A-Division for their prompt response and assistance in apprehending suspects. She noted that the police continue to respond to their calls for help.
