MEDICAL EXPERT'S URGENT WARNING: SIMPLE LIFESTYLE CHANGES CAN SAVE YOU FROM CANCER AND KIDNEY DISEASES

A Consultant Family Physician at the Kwara State University Teaching Hospital, Dr. Obalowu Ismaila Aberi, warns that simple lifestyle changes can significantly reduce the risk of cancer and kidney disease.

Dr. Aberi emphasizes that many cases of cancer are congenital, but lifestyle choices play a crucial role in determining our health.

According to Dr. Aberi, lifestyle choices such as smoking and excessive alcohol consumption significantly increase the risk of developing certain types of cancer. 

He cited lung, laryngeal, and bronchial cancers as being linked to smoking, while liver and breast cancers are associated with alcohol consumption.

Dr. Aberi furthered that many cases of cancer are congenital, acquired during pregnancy or inherited from parents.

He highlighted the link between certain diseases, such as hepatitis B and HIV, and the development of specific types of cancer. He advised that prevention is key, emphasizing the importance of self-screening, proper checkups, and immunization against hepatitis B.

KIDNEY ILLUSTRATION 

Regarding kidney disease, “Kidney diseases can be congenital as well or caused by dehydration, excess alcohol consumption, HIV, hepatitis, and certain infections like  staphylococcal infection.

Drinking 2.5 to 5 liters of water daily helps prevent kidney disease and for sickle cells it’s recommendable they take 6 to 7 liters of water daily because of there own filtration process”, Dr. Aberi Advised

In conclusion, Dr. Aberi emphasized the importance of prevention and early detection in reducing the risks of cancer and kidney disease. He advised individuals to adopt healthy lifestyle choices, including regular sleep, avoiding substance abuse, and managing stress.
