Ayetoro community, a rural community in Ilorin, Kwara State, in an interview with Ilorin News Network has expressed gratitude to the government for providing a functional primary health center, boreholes, and a generator to their community.

The Vice Chairman, Community Leaders, Tajudeen Oyewale and Alhaji Alnafi Aina, the Mogaji of Ayetoro, have appealed to the government for a stable electricity supply to enable them to fully utilize the boreholes. The lack of electricity has rendered the boreholes partially functional.

Mr. Oyewale stated that although the government provides a functional borehole and a generator in the community but the rise of fuel prices have made it difficult to obtain fuel for the generator. As a result, residents are forced to rely on contaminated water sources, posing serious health risks.

Despite these challenges, the community is grateful to the government for providing a functional primary health center. The health center has been a lifeline for the community, offering access to quality healthcare services.

“We are thankful to the government for providing us with a functional primary health center, boreholes, and a generator,".

“However, the lack of electricity and rising fuel prices have made it difficult for us to fully utilize these facilities. We urge the government to provide a stable electricity supply and consider subsidizing fuel prices to enable us to access clean water and quality healthcare." Vice Chairman Said.

He furthered. Another critical issue facing the community is the lack of streetlights. The absence of lighting on the streets has created an environment conducive to crime, with scavengers and thieves taking advantage of the darkness to steal from residents.

Vice Chairman urged the government to install streetlights to improve security and safety. The community's leaders have called on the government to increase security presence in the area, install more streetlights, and provide a functional waste management system.

He added that the community has faced these issues for over 10 years and has been calling the government's attention to them since then.

"We believe that with the government's support, we can overcome these challenges and create a better life for ourselves and our children, we are willing to work with the government to find solutions to these problems and ensure that our community receives the support it needs to thrive." He said.

The community's appeal to the government highlights the need for sustained investment in rural infrastructure and services. As the government continues to work towards developing the country, it is essential that communities like Ayetoro receive the support they need to overcome their unique challenges and achieve their full potential.
